Constable Ayodhya Prasad Singh, 133 BN CRPF

On 1 November 1997, the 133rd Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force was deployed in Senapati district, Manipur, for anti-insurgency operations. During an operation, the CRPF party was ambushed by insurgents entrenched behind fortified positions.

The troops responded with a determined counterattack, advancing despite the challenging terrain and the intensity of the assault. The ensuing gunfight resulted in injuries among the personnel. Undeterred, the CRPF troops continued their advance and ultimately forced the insurgents to retreat with their wounded.

Although the injured personnel were evacuated, ten members of the battalion later succumbed to their injuries. Constable Ayodhya Prasad Singh was among those who attained martyrdom on 1 November 1997.

The Honour Post remembers Constable Ayodhya Prasad Singh with honour and gratitude. His supreme sacrifice in Manipur remains a part of the history of the 133rd Battalion and the CRPF.
