Constable U. S. Mishal, 133 BN CRPF
The 133rd Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force was deployed in Senapati district, Manipur, for anti-insurgency operations. On 1 November 1997, the troops came under an ambush by insurgents positioned behind fortified defences during an operation in the area.
The CRPF personnel responded with a fierce counterattack, advancing against the entrenched attackers despite the challenging terrain. The ensuing gunfight resulted in injuries among the troops. Undeterred, the personnel continued pressing forward and eventually forced the insurgents to retreat with their wounded.
Ten members of the battalion later succumbed to their injuries. Constable U. S. Mishal was among the personnel who made the supreme sacrifice on 1 November 1997.
The Honour Post pays tribute to Constable U. S. Mishal and honours his service with the 133rd Battalion. His sacrifice in Manipur remains remembered with respect.
