On 2 November 2007, personnel of the 50th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force were travelling in a three-vehicle convoy towards their company location in North Cachar Hills, Assam. As the contingent approached Landring village, insurgents launched a sudden ambush.
One of the vehicles became trapped in the killing zone, and the attackers opened intense fire from positions that gave them a tactical advantage. The CRPF personnel responded by dismounting and launching a counter-attack, determined to break through the ambush.
Head Constable A. D. Barma was among the six personnel of the 50th Battalion who made the supreme sacrifice in the encounter. The troops fought back against the well-entrenched attackers, displaying resolve in the face of sustained hostile fire.
Head Constable A. D. Barma attained martyrdom on 2 November 2007. His sacrifice in Assam is remembered alongside his fellow personnel who lost their lives in the same encounter while serving the nation.
The Honour Post pays tribute to Head Constable A. D. Barma and honours his dedication and sacrifice.
