Born on 10 July 1987, Sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh served in the Indian Army with the Rajput Regiment. During his military service, he was attached to 44 Rashtriya Rifles, which was engaged in counter-terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

On 6 November 2017, security forces launched a counter-terrorist operation at Aglar Kandi village in Pulwama district following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists. Sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh was part of the team deployed in the inner cordon.

After clearing two houses, Sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh and his buddy, Rifleman Aurangzeb, moved towards an adjoining cowshed to search the structure. As they entered the dark cowshed, they came under heavy and effective fire from three different directions.

Sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh immediately returned fire and engaged the terrorists. Despite being exposed to intense firing, he continued to fight and provided covering fire, enabling Rifleman Aurangzeb to extricate himself from the cowshed.

During the exchange of fire, Sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh sustained serious bullet injuries to his chest and legs. Despite his grievous wounds, he refused to give up the fight and continued engaging the terrorists, preventing them from escaping and giving the other members of the cordon an opportunity to readjust their positions.

His determined resistance resulted in one terrorist being neutralised and another being injured. His actions also helped save the life of his buddy, demonstrating exceptional courage and comradeship under fire.

He was evacuated to the 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Army paid tribute to the fallen soldier at Badami Bagh Cantonment before his mortal remains were taken to his native village for the last rites with full military honours.

Sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra for his exceptional courage, devotion to duty and selfless action during the operation. The award recognised his determination to continue fighting despite sustaining grievous injuries and his efforts to protect his fellow soldier.

His actions at Aglar Kandi remain a testament to the courage and commitment of soldiers serving in counter-terrorist operations. He stood his ground under intense fire and placed the safety of his comrade and the success of the mission above his own life.

The Honour Post pays tribute to Sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh, Kirti Chakra (Posthumous), remembering his courage and supreme sacrifice on 6 November 2017.
