Archive status — VERIFIED PARTIAL: The Republic Day section below is based directly on the Government of India Ministry of Defence / PIB recipient list published on 26 January 2006. The Independence Day section includes the individually verified Kirti Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Nao Sena Medal and Vayu Sena Medal recipients that could be cross-checked from contemporary records. The Ministry of Defence Annual Report confirms that the complete Independence Day total was 108 awards, including 81 Sena Medals and 2 Bars to Sena Medal. Those remaining individual Sena Medal records are not represented as verified cards here.

Independence Day 2006 — official annual totals:
2 Kirti Chakras, 16 Shaurya Chakras, 2 Bars to Sena Medal, 81 Sena Medals, 6 Nao Sena Medals and 1 Vayu Sena Medal. The Ministry of Defence Annual Report records these totals separately from the Republic Day awards.

Mention-in-Despatches are excluded from this Gallantry Awards archive. Police medals and other non-scope decorations are also excluded.
